Growing up in a SOUND environment.

As long as I can remember I have liked noise and music, I remember banging on the keys of our old player piano in 1965. Much different than a 5 year old Les Paul. Les actually punched holes in the rolls, in effect adding parts to existing songs. 30 years later he pioneered multi-track recording as we know it today. I too discovered the joy of capturing sounds, I was given a small portable cassette recorder for Christmas at 7 years old which I carried around recording noises.
Like all kids in the 60's and 70's, music and especially Rock and Roll was a big part of my life. It was this continued passion that would be a common thread in my life from that point forward, I have guitars and other instruments and have never really mastered any of them, but have enjoyed them, like lost a friend your glad to see. Through experimentation, and observation combined I have learned a lot about music and the process of making it, and really it comes down to this, as Ray Charles Said, "Theres only two kinds of music, Good and Bad!" Someone else once said "If it sounds good it is good."
Eventually through photography I began living my Rock and Roll Dream, going to shows, sneaking in a camera and waiting till the end when the crowd rushed the stage, I would get great shots and I loved the energy. After a few years I was meeting Managers, Artist, Promoters, Label types and more. I had the pleasure to met and spend time with the late and great Stevie Ray Vaughn, a highlight in my photography career for sure, at a mere 23 I was flown to Dallas,TX by Stevie himself to shoot a cover for Soul to Soul. He had done shots with a Photographer from NYC and didn't like the look, he wanted me to try something and I said I could do it I ended up spending a week in the studio with a legend. I also learned there was a riff between SRV and the label and they used the other photos over what Stevie himself wanted. This opened my eyes to how labels more often than not are often at odds with their artist. After all isn't it about music, or is it about selling plastic disc, and the artist is merely a disposable vehicle to lure the masses into spending their hard earned money?
To this day, I have managed artists ,developed a Grammy Winning act, Produced and engineered recordings live and in the studio, I've done CD art, web sites for myself, friends and other artist, documentary footage -still and video in 3rd world countries. I have worked exclusively and under contract with many of the major musical instrument manufacturers. It was through these type of experiences that I observed and learned about many aspects of the Music Business. Also in this time in my life computers were becoming more and more prevelant and necessary to perform in todays markets, I soon learned many programs allowing me to merge all eh forms of media I had worked in. It all comes together in a Digital world, possibilities became endless to me.
Moving to Nashville in 1992 continued this education, and its here in Music City USA, Songfish was born, originally as an idea in 1999 to connect artist and writers with Performance Royalty Organizations and each other. Move forward 7 years and add the publics acceptance of The Digital Explosion with the power of todays computer systems and it dosn't take a genius to see the power and possibilities of a organized structure that focuses on music and the process of making it.
Currently, pun intended, I am working on making Songfish what I know it can be. A tool to empower and connect artist, musician's, music services and support functions in a Virtual Glass House without walls. A Virtual Gambrel Building if you will!

An attention-grabbing
An attention-grabbing discussion is price comment. I think that it is best to write extra on this topic, it won't be a taboo subject however usually people are not sufficient to talk on such topics. To the next. Cheers
